Bail Information

  • Any adult (18 or older) can post security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for an adult in custody held in the NORCOR jail. (Bail cannot be posted by another adult in custody) Security is normally called bail.

You must present official picture identification (such as a driver’s license, state ID card, or passport) and not be under the influence to drugs or alcohol when posting security.

IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM, YOU MAY POST BAIL, HOWEVER; YOU MAY NOT BE PRESENT AT TIME OF RELEASE.

  • To find out an adult in custody’s security amount go to the Adults in Custody page or call 541-298-1576 to inquire with NORCOR Staff. Normally the amount shown is 10% of the security amount. However, for some traffic violation charges, it may be the full security/bail amount. In any case, the amount shown is what must be paid.

The security/bail needed may change at any time because of changes in the charges, or a court’s actions regarding the security amount.

There are 4 ways to post bail:

Through the arraigning Court during regular business hours.

IF POSTING AT THE ARRAIGNING COURT: PLEASE CONTACT THE COURT FOR POSTING INSTRUCTIONS & HOURS OF OPERATION.

Through the NORCOR Lobby Telmate Kiosk (cash or card)

Over the phone with Telmate 866-516-0115

(please notify NORCOR Staff if you have posted bail over the phone with Telmate.)

The adult in custody can post their own bail in NORCOR Booking.

Money posted for bail should include only the amount of the bail + Telmate fees. These fees are 3.95% of the total bail (minimum of $3.95) if paying in cash or 9.00% of the total bail + $9.95 if paying with a credit card. Please note that bail is posted directly to the adult in custody's bail account.

The adult in custody may only use these funds to post their own bail, therefore if Bail is posted via the Telmate System, only the adult in custody is eligible for a refund from the issuing court.

NORCOR DOES NOT RELEASE BAIL FUNDS

When you post bail via the Telmate System, you are depositing to the adults in custody Bond account, those funds then become the property of the court & the adult in custody. The adult in custody may receive a refund of those funds after the court releases them in future hearings. It is the adult in custody’s responsibility to return funds posted on their behalf.

READ THIS NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING BAIL DIRECTLY TO THE COURT

The Court will retain 15% of the amount deposited as security release costs. In no event will the amount be less than $5.00.

The Court may order that the security deposit be applied to any fines, costs, assessments, restitution, contribution, recoupment or other monetary obligations that are imposed on the defendant in this or any other case.

The Court may order that the security deposit be applied towards the defendant’s child support obligations and/or to provide security for future child support payments.

If the defendant fails to comply with the terms of the security release agreement, the Court may order that the security deposit be forfeited to the State of Oregon. The Court may also enter a judgment against you for the entire amount of the security set against the defendant. This is not limited to the amount you post.

No money will be refunded until the proceedings in this matter are completed and the Court enters an order releasing the funds. If the defendant is found guilty, no money will be returned until after sentencing. Unless the court orders otherwise, these funds will only be refunded to the person who made the deposit as shown on the receipt.

The Court may be required to notify the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office if more than $10,000 is posted by any party.

IN ALL CASES: You must present official picture identification (such as a driver’s license, state ID card, or passport) and not be under the influence to drugs or alcohol when posting security.

  • NORCOR will release the adult in custody as soon as possible, however, the operational needs of the NORCOR staff at that time and whether the adult in custody needs to check out of his or her housing unit and change back into civilian clothing, may cause delays in the release process.

If you are the victim of the adult in custody you must leave the area before the adult in custody leaves the jail.

  • NORCOR does not handle, control, or refund bail/security once it is posted.

Bail moneys are posted directly to the adult in custody’s account. These funds become the property of the adult in custody and are nonrefundable. It is the discretion of the adult in custody if they choose to post his/her own bail with these funds.

If the adult in custody chooses to use the funds to post his/her own bail, it is then forwarded to the courts for processing.

Unless YOU posted bail directly to the court you are not eligible for refund from the court when the proceedings in the matter have been concluded in court.

Only the adult in custody that posted their own bail may be eligible to receive a refund from the issuing court. The court does not refund security until all of the conditions of the release agreement are performed, all court appearances are complete, the defendant is discharged from all obligations in the case, and the case is closed.

The security is subject to forfeiture if the defendant fails to appear in court as scheduled or violates the release agreement.

The court will retain 15% of the amount deposited as security release costs. In no event will the amount be less than $5.00.
